Blood Donor Month
January is also Blood Donor Month
Although January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, it is also Blood Donor Month. We at MedNOW want to take a moment to highlight this important cause that saves countless lives. Every January, we honor the selfless individuals who donate blood and encourage others to join this life-saving effort.
Blood donation is critical to ensuring that hospitals and clinics can provide essential care for patients in need. Whether it’s a trauma victim, someone undergoing surgery, or a patient with a chronic illness, a single blood donation can help save multiple lives.
Unfortunately, blood supplies often run low during winter months due to seasonal challenges like illness, weather, and holiday travel. That’s why your contribution during National Blood Donor Month is more important than ever. You can make a difference by donating blood, spreading the word, and staying informed on the different types of blood donations available.
At MedNOW, we are committed to supporting our community’s health. We encourage all eligible patients to consider giving this vital gift. We will also be hosting a few blood drives ourselves in 2025! We will make sure to promote those blood drives when the time comes!
For more information on how to donate or find a nearby blood drive, visit RedCrossBlood.org. Together, we can help ensure that blood supplies remain sufficient for those who depend on them.
Thank you for being a valued part of our MedNOW family and for considering how you can contribute during National Blood Donor Month. Your generosity can truly save lives.

Alcohol use disorder continues to be a growing concern across the country. Millions of individuals are affected each year, and excessive alcohol use contributes to a significant number of preventable health issues and deaths in the United States. With April recognized as Alcohol Awareness Month, we want to take this opportunity to raise awareness and encourage reflection on how alcohol may impact your health, relationships, and overall well-being. While alcohol use is common, it’s important to recognize when it may be affecting your life or the lives of those around you. If you or a loved one may be struggling, please know that you are not alone. Our MedNOW providers are here to offer support, guidance, and treatment options tailored to your needs. We encourage you to reach out to your provider or contact your local MedNOW clinic to learn more about how we can help. There are effective treatment options available, including FDA-approved medications that can help reduce alcohol cravings. One commonly used option is Naltrexone, a once-daily medication that has been shown to decrease cravings with minimal side effects significantly. Additional prescription and over-the-counter options may also be appropriate depending on your individual situation. For more information about alcohol use and its effects, the CDC offers helpful resources. If you or someone you know needs immediate assistance, don't hesitate to get in touch with the National Drug and Alcohol Treatment Hotline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357). Thank you for prioritizing your health and well-being.
